CPED WEBINAR: THE LITERATURE REVIEW
This webinar draws on the Scaffolding the Language of Power framework (Strom, 2024) to explore a major task of the second chapter of the EdD dissertation: synthesizing relevant literature. We will first examine the literature review as a specific sub-genre of doctoral level writing and identify its major purposes and the linguistic tasks to meet them--such as synthesizing literature. We will then delve more deeply into methods for supporting student synthesizing of literature at a macro-level (creating an organizational schema) and micro-level (building out paragraphs with three levels of claims and corresponding evidence).
